With our #YourBestYou series, we’re sharing some of our favorite stories of perseverance, hope, and aspiration from the LANE EIGHT community of Everyday Athletes! For our latest feature we caught up with mother of two, Pilates and Yoga instructor, and Reiki practitioner Siena T. for this special Mother’s Day edition of #YourBestYou.

Q: What is your favourite thing about being a mother?
S: Most mothers would agree that motherhood is an extremely exhausting but rewarding experience. There’s a saying that having a child feels like having a piece of your heart walking outside your body forever. I think until one gets to experience it they don’t understand how powerful and vulnerable that feeling can be. And it is a blessing in itself.

Q: Pilates or Yoga?
S: Yoga. Pilates changed my entire yoga practice but I still prefer everything about yoga and all its valuable lessons that I am still learning to apply outside of the mat.

Q: What is the most challenging thing about being a mum?
S: Having my limits tested beyond limits and discovering new limits and having those being pushed to their limits, Haha. When there is no easy way out or no exit door, we learn to build our patience, tolerance and most importantly, to love without limits, literally.

Q: What’s the biggest learning experience you’ve had?
S: The effects that physical exhaustion and sleep deprivation can put on the mind and not knowing of any days off, it almost puts the body into what I call survival mode until I finally gave in and came to a consensus with myself that it’s okay to ask for help.

Q: What’s your favorite time of day?
S: NAP TIME of course. Nap times and reading times are the most peaceful times of the day.

Q: Favourite workout?
S: My favourite workout would either be a flow your hearts out type of yoga practice or a hike away from the city. Far, far away from the city.

Q: What song can you listen to on repeat?
S: I don’t have a song right now. I’d listen to a song of waves on repeat wishing I were at a sunny beach all day, especially with the gloomy weather we’ve been having all week long.

Q: What are the three things you can’t live without?
S: My family, my friends and yoga, of course.

Q: What are you currently reading?
S: The Illuminated Breath – Dylan Werner.

Q: If you were not a yoga instructor, what would you be doing?
S: I studied design, interactive design. I also love photography, I love capturing the essence and beauty of people. I also studied makeup and hair. And I love working with kids. I would probably be freelancing many things at once and constantly still trying to explore and learn new things, Haha.

Q: Favorite food?
S: Dumplings!

Q: First family vacation destination post-COVID?
S: Back home, to Canada. I miss my family and friends dearly.

Q: What does #YourBestYou mean to you?
S: #YourBestYou to me means choosing to be the version of you that best expresses all sides of you. Celebrating the best moments and embracing challenges because whether happy or not, these are all fragments in time that too, will pass. Tomorrow is a new day, a chance to be the you that you choose to be.

Q: What’s your favorite LANE EIGHT color?
S: I wear the carbon black a lot and I love them. They are a wardrobe staple for me especially when I’m in athleisure everyday.
